The Covington Past Exalted Rulers Association continued the Lodge tradition of having a Law Enforcement Appreciation Breakfast Thursday morning on July 15th by providing a delicious array of scrambled eggs, sausage, grits, biscuits, orange juice and coffee for all law enforcement and EMT officials in the local area. Newton County Deputy Sheriff Anthony Washington was presented a Certificate of Appreciation for being selected Outstanding Officer of the Year by Larry Capes. Approximately 60 representatives from various law officer groups attended the breakfast. The PER's thanked all of the law enforcement officers for there help in keeping us safe every day!!! In attendance were about ten Elks and two other helpers.

The Covington Elks Lodge was well rewarded at the annual convention Jack was also chosen ELK of the YEAR for 2009-10 by the President of the Georgia Elks Association. This was an honor that was well deserved. Jack has made Covington Lodge 1806 proud. Another husband and wife team that has worked very hard for several past years was rewarded at Jekyll Island. Willie and Theresa Parker were recognized for the work they have done on the State Soccer Committee. Congratulations, Willie and Theresa, for a job well done. Covington Lodge and Auxiliary received plaques for their support of Elks Aidmore Childrens' Center for the year 2009-10. Larry Capes was recognized for his service as President of the Georgia Elks Association for the year 2009-10. The State Association had one of best years in awhile. The First Lady represented us well. |
